Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How can you save us 50% on shipping and handling?
A: Textbook publishers have been charging a flat ten (10%) percent fee on textbook orders for decades. The amount is high enough to cover the actual shipping cost for even the furthest districts. Book-It bases its cost on the actual weight and distance as part of its logistic analysis. We find the true cost for school districts in our region is closer to five (5%) percent, including our own compensation.
Q: How do I “sign up” for this service?
A: Follow these three easy steps:
1. Deduct the “Shipping & Handling” cost from your purchase order.
2. Place one of our stickers or stamp on your purchase order.
3. Send a copy of your purchase order to Book-It Distribution and we take it from there.
Q: Where will our textbooks be delivered?
A: Book-It Distribution will automatically deliver to the address(es) you specify in your purchase order and the school district receives the saving in cost.
Q: Do all textbook publishers participate in your program?
A: Yes, however; Harcourt Companies sometimes add a 5% handling charge, even when we are managing your coordination, logistics and freight. We have raised the issue of the “unearned” fee. Unfortunately, the issue remains unresolved. We will continue to explore a solution with Harcourt.
Q: Will our textbooks be delayed by using Book-It Distribution’s services.
A: In a word, “NO”.
Q: Does Book-It Distribution have a minimum size textbook order?
A: No, however; for textbook purchase orders less than $2,000, our minimum charge will be $100.
Q: Will Book-It Distribution handle other types of shipments?
A: Of course. Furniture is a good example of where our services might be helpful, but; call us first for anything heavy traveling by freight carrier.
